 The Work-Ordered Day

Yahara House is about community and work.

The daily activity of a Clubhouse is organized around a structured system known as the work-ordered day. Between 8:30am and 4:30pm, Monday through Friday, members and staff work side-by-side as colleagues to build meaningful relationships and perform important work for our community. All of the work is purposeful, recovery-oriented, and is entirely for the running of the Clubhouse.

This work occurs in three departments, which are as follows:

operates the reception desk, and oversees the gardening and groundskeeping. Biz also organizes the Merc which sells gently used clothing and shoes for members for 50 cents to a dollar.

We plan the lunches, order the food, organize the food for daily lunches, and do daily cleanup after lunches. Also café hosts Catfish Café on Friday afternoons, which is a time for members and staff to perform and have fun!

Here they can receive collegial support in completing personal tasks such as submitting benefits paperwork, connecting to services in the community, applying for housing, scheduling medical appointments, and navigating transportation.
